What Causes Water To Push Out Of The Radiator?
There are quite a few reasons. But the most common is a blown head gasket. So, what will happen is that the high pressure in the combustion chamber will squeeze its way into the break in the head gasket and the coolant passages.
As a result, the pressure build-up within the cooling system will push coolant into the overflow tank. So you need to check if your oil has been contaminated with coolant.
How To Stop Water From Coming Out Of The Radiator?
Your radiator can be leaking water for a lot of reasons. You need to know first where the leak is. You have to dry the surface of your radiator.
Dry also your radiator valves and any visible pipes with towels. The leak will then come out from the part that will remain wet. You can also turn off the valves to the radiator if possible.
Do this by unscrewing it clockwise. You can stop the leaking water, but you can have it repaired by an expert. But you can follow this step by step guide.
1. Drain
You have to drain the system just below the leak. With that, you need to know first where the actual leak is. So do checking first.
2. Turn Off Valve
The next step is that you have to turn off your supply valve. You also have to turn off the lockshield valve.
3. Catch The Water
You then need to catch any water that is escaping in a bucket. You can also use an old towel.
4. Undo That Union Nut
Undo then the union nut and then use an adjustable spanner. Open the valve so that it can bleed and then release any remaining water in it. Wrap the valve tail in tape.
